Heres whats new
* New: screen resizing capability - hold Right-Trigger and click Right-Thumbstick. * New: reload ScummVM launcher - hold Rightt-Trigger and press Black. * New: reboot to dashboard - hold Right-Trigger and press White. * Changed: removed optimizations for Simon The Sorceror engine. Nintendo DS Emulation News Relaunch Posted on Monday, July 25 2005
It was just over a year ago that i started this site to post news on the Nintendo DS and any happenings surrounding it, since then theres been a mass of Demos and homebrew games and some awesome hacks and advancements. The Passme and WifiMe are two of the highlights of the year.
This site in its old state was tired and in need of a shake up and a more professional look. We now have a great new IRC page that links you to the DCEmu chat channel and every single bit of homebrew and emulation news is posted on this site, we also have a direct connection to the forums with the news so comments can be easily seen and responded too.
We have over 100 releases for the Nintendo DS Scene on site and are always looking to find any missed releases (so let us know)
Keep on visiting for the ultimate in Nintendo DS Emulation and Homebrew news, check out the site here --> http://nintendo-ds.dcemu.co.uk

Gentoox - now 50% quieter Posted on Saturday, July 23 2005
I've done some testing and it seems that if your Xbox is in a large enough room with good air circulation then a fan speed of 10% is sufficient! I've updated the monitors package (which contains fanctl) to feature a "quiet" mode that can be activated by adding the -q/--quiet switch. When this is enabled the fan speed floor is lowered to 10% rather than the default 20%. This mode can also be enabled at startup in /etc/conf.d/fanctl by changing "QUIET=0" to "QUIET=1".
If your system usually has the fan speed higher than 20% then quiet mode is NOT for you and, though it is unlikely, may cause your Xbox to overheat. Remember that these tools come with no warranty and while I have tested them as thoroughly as I can, I cannot be held responsible for any damage they may cause. Go run magic to update. http://gentoox.shallax.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=451 Discuss the Xbox and its Homebrew & Emulation scene in our Xbox Forum.
HowTo Port your favourite operating system to the Xbox Posted on Saturday, July 23 2005
The Xbox is a low-cost (149 USD/EUR) IBM PC compatible computer, which can be used as a server, workstation or as a media player. Though, its with minor hardware differences make it necessary to slightly modify operating systems so that they are compatible with the Xbox. This document describes these differences in detail and explains how to handle them in your operating system, and explains how to get started http://www.xbox-linux.org/wiki/Porting_an_Operating_System_to_the_Xbox_HOWTO Discuss the Xbox and its Homebrew & Emulation scene in our Xbox Forum.
FuseX v0.5.0 ! Posted on Friday, July 22 2005
This is the first public release of FUSE for the xbox. It is a port of FUSE (Free Unix Spectrum Emulator). I am planning on adopting a new name but can’t think of a good one (suggestions to crabfists -AT- gmail.com).
Features: * Spectrum 48, 128, +2 & Pentagon emulation. * Most snapshot formats supported. * Rzx playback (for playing back replays of spectrum games). * Snapshot quick save & load. * Virtual keyboard. * Mapping spectrum keys to joypad buttons. * Kempston, Sinclair & cursor joystick emulation. * USB keyboard support.
Features it does not have (but hopefully will have in the future): * Settings for each game. * Load/Save emulator settings. * A pretty UI. * RZX recording. * Tape browser/Tape Playback controls. * Proper support for NTSC Xboxes. * Letting you change which directory snaps are saved in. * File progress/Loading message when loading RZXs. * User friendliness of menus.
Known Bugs/Things to bear in mind: * There is a vertical and horizontal line running through the middle of the screen. * Some tzxs don’t load. * Some tzxs will slow-load (ie take the same amount of time as a real spectrum). * Big rzxs cause an out of memory error. * Big rzxs take ages to load. * I think there is a small memory leak when loading rzxs but you will need to load 100’s before it affects anything though. * The keyboard emulation may be slightly unresponsive and buggy. Try pressing keys very quickly in basic and it seems to miss some keypresses. Can anybody confirm if this is real spectrum behaviour? * Running the emulator on an NTSC xbox (or in PAL60) will cause the sound to stutter and cause it to not run nicely at all. At the moment I recommend you put your xbox into 50hz mode. I know this is a pain but please bear with me.

Metal Slug 5 for Xbox Posted on Tuesday, June 28 2005
News from Lik Sang
Metal Slug is a long running arcade style series that pits one man against the side scrolling masses of enemies, guns, tanks, lasers, subs, rocket launchers, missiles, trains, mines, and anything else they can throw at you. This fifth edition isn't quite as tough / suicidal as its predecessors, but anyone but the most experience sluggers will still find themselves chugging down the lives and racking up the unlimited continues. Thankfully there's no need to "insert coin" in a home edition though, so everyone can have a go at really mastering the game.
There's also all sorts of 'slugs' (vehicles) that can increase your odds of survival a little more than the usual million against one though, such as subs, cars, spiders and more. The gunner for example is a mech packing both a canon on its head, a gatling gun on one arm, and a hydraulic spike on the other. Finally a new move to the series gives you the ability to slide below enemy fire while taking shots at them yourself. Metal Slug 5 hits Xbox this week, and as with all our Asian Xboxen titles, is just US$ 44.90. Discuss the Xbox and its Homebrew & Emulation scene in our Xbox Forum.

Neocdsdlx Unleashed ! Posted on Sunday, June 12 2005
GogoAckman has released Neocdsdlx Unleashed, a neogeo CD emulator based on the NeoCD/SDLx port by Lantus.
Heres the scoop:
* The "only" new is iso/mp3 support, there are some limitations : 1) you must name the cue the same name as you rep (for example d:\isos\kof96\kof96.cue) 2) you must edit path.txt to select your paths (can be edited in d:\ and t:\ if you want) 3) each images must be in a folder in the iso folder (as for the example -] d:\ is the name of the folder which contain emu -] \isos\ is the isopath -] \kof96\ is the kof96 iso folder and \kof96.cue is the cuesheet file who has the same nam as kof96 iso folder. 4) Interface is really limited, I don t know sdl code and dont wanna mess with it, the main limitation is that you will probably all your isos if you have more than 10. 5) your cue must be named as the iso folder but not the files, no problem with their original name (except xbox fatx limitation)

GTA San Andreas Xbox shots Posted on Monday, June 6 2005
With the Xbox version of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas just days away, Rockstar has casually released these new screenshots of the game to further tempt any of you who resisted the PS2 version to part with your cash.
In addition to the cities, modes and features present in the PS2 version, the Xbox game will feature a few technical improvements over the original, making it the console version to own.
New lighting and shading models, high-resolution textures, an increased draw distance and 480p support make this version look much nicer, with the 5.1 surround sound ably backing up the graphical improvements.
In addition, the Xbox version also features a 30 second replay mode, allowing you to re-enjoy nasty moments, and a customisable soundtrack, giving you the option to build your own radio station playlists.
Amusingly, the DJ commentary and silly adverts still play out in-between your tracks, so you don't have to sacrifice some of the humour in order to enjoy you're own music.
Anyway, enough chat, check out the new screenshots on the right.
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas is due for release on Xbox and PC this Friday. The PS2 version is out now
