Xecuter 3 CE Review Posted on Sunday, February 20 2005
The best modchip on the market, the Xecuter 3 CE now has a review to go with it, heres part of that review:
Team Xecuter also made a solderless adapter for the X3 (sold separately). With the 'Xapt3r' adapter you can install the X3 without any soldering on Xbox v1.0-v1.5. There will be a separated review of the Xapt3r very soon (as it works for Xecuter 2.6(CE) too). The adapter will connect all LPC points and the D0-point. The Eject/Power points are already solderless by default, but the adapter will not connect the LAN and HD led points ... which are of course only optional, but if you want to see the LAN and HD activity leds on your external adapter you will still have to solder these 2 very easy points yourself.

Schizno has released a new clone of a Flash game for the Xbox Console, heres the info from his site:
Worked on MadnessX. Well I actually got to code a little bit, so we aren't officially dead. Still a little bit to do, mainly adding guns and adding more blood, the rest should be somewhat easy... I don't see any huge obstacles in the way but who knows.
An Update:
Small Update: - Added clothing accessories (ie you can have hats, glasses, beards, masks etc) - Added some new weapons - Fixed some chainsaw graphics - Smacked kl0wn like a little bitch

Microsoft to replace 14.1 million Xbox power cables ! Posted on Thursday, February 17 2005
In a demonstration of its commitment to consumer safety, Microsoft today announced that it will voluntarily replace the power cords on some 14.1 million Xbox consoles worldwide after sporadic reports of electrical component failures that might constitute a fire hazard.
"This is a preventative step we’re choosing to take despite the rarity of these incidents," Microsoft's Robbie Bach commented. "We regret the inconvenience, but believe offering consumers a free replacement cord is the responsible thing to do."
Microsoft released the following statement clarifying the nature of the problem:
"Fewer than one in 10,000 consoles have experienced these component failures, and in almost all instances, any damage caused by these failures was contained within the console itself or limited to the tip of the power cord at the back of the console.
"However, in 30 consoles worldwide, these failures are reported to have caused minor injury or minor property damage. In seven instances, customers reported sustaining a minor burn to their hand. In 23 instances, customers reported smoke damage, or minor damage to a carpet or entertainment centre.
"In all regions except Continental Europe, Xbox consoles manufactured before 23rd October, 2003 require a replacement power cord. In Continental Europe, consoles manufactured before 13th January, 2004 require a replacement power cord."
Customers should go to www.xbox.com, Microsoft said, and click the "Power Cord Replacement for Xbox" link to fill out an order form. Replacement cords will take two to four weeks to arrive, and prior to their arrival customers are advised to switch their consoles off at the mains when not in use. The company has also set up freephone telephone numbers for people who cannot use the web - 0800 028 9276 in the UK, and 1800 923947 in the Republic of Ireland.
"Not all replacement cords that Microsoft supplies to program participants will look the same. Which type of cord is shipped will depend on the date the console was manufactured and the country where it is used," the statement added.

X3 Deluxe Case Project Revealed Posted on Tuesday, February 1 2005
For some time we have had the intention of releasing a complete case replacement for the Xbox but with all the X3 development of last year and the heavy software work we were involved in, everything got put to the back burner. Now we have finished the X3 Control Panel (ships tomorrow) and with our proven track record of metal and plastics fabrication, we are pleased to reveal our next project for the first quarter of 2005 - The X3 Deluxe Case. After seeing so many cheap Xbox case hacks on the market we felt it was time to design a product that said much more than just a gaming console. What we have in mind here is the complete media center - so we took some ideas from high quality DVD player cases - most notibly brushed aluminium - so that it would look totally in place with a home entertainment enthusiasts setup. We have a sneak preview of an earlier design to show you. The next pictures will be of the real thing, and with much more information of the extra features that you are given. This is just one of many high quality products coming your way in 2005 from Xecuter.
Don't forget: This is an older design and there may be some physical mistakes or anomolies - don't bother telling us - we already know. This is a work in progress. No time line or price scale is known so cant be given so don't ask.
